Hummingbird

I never loved you the way I should
But I did all that I could
To love you the only way I knew
But it wasn't enough

You needed much much much much much more from me...
But I failed to see
That loving me wasn't easy
I'm so sorry it was so tough

Hummingbird, you're so beautiful
You captivated me
You dazzled me with your beauty
There was nobody else for me

I never noticed other women
I was completely satisfied
You met all my needs, you completed me
I felt so proud with you by my side

I could want no greater treasure
You made me the richest man alive
To be with you was my greatest pleasure
With you I couldn't help but thrive!

And so we bought a place together
It was you who made our house a home
In the kitchen, in the garden
It seemed your work was never done

I never noticed your wings were tiring
I was lost in my own pain
It was a burden you couldn't carry
Another heart that was made of stone

I could't keep you, the cage was open
An in an instant you had flown
I was the reason for your suffering
It was me that had caused your pain

I had no comfort to give you
And so I hung my head in shame...

Please forgive me, please forgive me
It's good to see you fly again...
Please forgive me, I'm so happy
You are a hummingbird once again
