On the church pivoting from pandering to progressivism back to the truths of the gospel...

Jo I didn't really have any more to say on the topic yesterday so didn't respond, apologies, I didn't mean to be rude and avoid dialogue - I kind of wanted to just let what I'd said stand, but my day was hijacked by the news that my step father had passed away...
Having had the chance to sleep on it, always a good idea actually in any heated/passionate exchange, to take things easy, I reread what you write and yes, the apostle Paul said in effect we should be all things to all men in order to win some, in
I Corinthians 9:19-23 NKJV
[19] 'For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; [20] and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; [21] to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; etc etc...'
But I will say one thing, and we touched on this at 6am prayer this morning, Dom says as much in his post this morning, and in his Hunger Meditations day 7 I'm dipping into during my devotions, see attached - it's not a mealy mouthed mere 'pivoting of language' that's needed... as a life long former anglican one reason I left is because as an institution it goes way too far in being 'all things to all men', and has become completely 'ichabod' as a result - the glory of God has departed - not that there aren't many fine individual CofE churchs, like the one in my own village.
It's repentance that's needed!! A radical change of heart, not just language... Church leaders need to repent of being weak and worldly, seeker sensitive, pandering to the world and the liberal consensus, and get back to the uncompromising truths of the gospel! And we've all done it, or at least aquiesced to it without putting up enough protest, and all need to repent. I posted also how the revelations that have come out of the grooming gang enquiry, and I've listened to a fair bit of it having the time to, have shocked and sickened me to my core - yet rather than raging against the perpetratiors, I found myself turning to repentance, because all this was allowed to happen in this country while we weak, liberal, permissive, luke warm christians were all at the beach, in the pool, in the pub, in the cinema, watching Netflix - dear God, when I look at the hours and hours I spent watching films/TV, compared to my paltry attempts at prayer... entertaining ourselves, rather than disciplining ourselves, setting ourselves apart, climbing the mountain of holiness, quitting ourselves like men, like soldiers, to fight the good fight of faith, and as Dom say, not just in personal pietism, not just in winning souls, but in societal reform - the Marxists have had their way, completed Gramsci's 'March through the institutions', with a deliberate agenda to pull down the Judao-Christian pillars of western society, and replace them with godless marxism. As someone said, all that's necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing, and we, the good men, redeemed, washed in the blood of the lamb, have been far too content to do nothing, and all of this evil has happened on our watch... I'm as guilty as the next man! But now it's time to, as the old hymn says (and those old hymns come from a time when Godly men were doing the stuff!!)...

'Gird up your armour,
ye sons of Zion,
Gird up your armour,
let's go to war.
We'll win the battle
with great rejoicing,
And so we'll praise Him
more and more.

With the high praises
of God in our mouth
And a two-edged sword
in our hand,
We'll march right
on to the victory side,
Right into Canaan's land.

What an awesome hymn! Other verses below...

The Lord has given
a land of good things,
I will press in and make them mine.
I'll know His power,
I'll know His glory,
And in His kingdom I will shine.

We'll bind their kings
in chains and fetters,
We'll bind their nobles tight in iron,
To execute God's written judgement;
March on to glory, sons of Zion!
